Barcaldine Regional Council and adjoining councils

The Local Government Change Commission (Change Commission) was asked to assess a boundary change between the Barcaldine Regional Council and the Blackall-Tambo Regional Council, Charters Towers Regional Council, Central Highlands Regional Council, Flinders Shire Council, Isaac Regional Council and Longreach Regional Council.

This proposal would unite 26 lots split between the Barcaldine Regional Council and the neighbouring councils.

Determination

The Change Commission has completed its final determination on the review and provided its assessment to the Minister responsible for Local Government, recommending the Governor in Council implement its final decision.

In accordance with the Local Government Act 2009, the Change Commission has published a notice of its final determination in the Queensland Government Gazette and on the ECQ website.

Implementation

The Governor in Council may implement the Change Commission’s recommendation under a regulation.

The regulation may provide for anything that is necessary or convenient to facilitate the implementation of the local government boundary change.
