By-elections were held on Saturday, 16 March 2024 to elect a new Member of Parliament for the State electorates of Inala and Ipswich West. The ECQ returned the writs declaring the names of the elected candidates for the Ipswich West and Inala State by-elections to the Her Excellency the Governor of Queensland on 22 March 2024 and 27 March 2024 respectively.

The Electoral Commission of Queensland has finalised its report on the Inala and Ipswich West State by-elections. A copy of the report can be found here.
Election day was Saturday, 16 March 2024 and is now closed.
Early voting was available from 4 March to 15 March and is now closed.
Postal votes must have be completed by 6pm on election day, and the ECQ must receive it by Tuesday, 26 March 2024 for it to be counted.

Registrations for telephone voting were open until midday on election day, Saturday 16 March. If you had registered, you had to vote before 6pm on election day, 16 March.
Mobile voting was provided to electors in certain locations such as aged care facilities which have been designated as ‘declared institutions’.
These services are only available to eligible electors.
At these elections you needed to number all the boxes on the ballot paper in your preferred order. Starting with the number 1 for the candidate you most prefer.
This is the full preferential voting system, which is used as required by the Electoral Act 1992.
Candidate nominations closed at noon on 13 February 2024.
