Consultation process

The electoral redistribution will include four stages of community consultation as required by the Electoral Act 1992. During consultation periods, the public and stakeholders will be able to make submissions, comments and/or objections on the redistribution.

The four stages of public consultation and indicative timeframes are:

Submissions may be made making suggestions relating to the redistribution, including changes to the electoral boundaries and/or district names.

The Commission expects to invite suggestions in July 2025. Suggestions will be open for a period of 30 days.

The submissions received during the first stage of consultation will be published, and comments will be invited.

This stage of consultation is expected to commence by September 2025. Comments will be open for a period of 21 days.

The proposed redistribution will be published, and objections will be invited.

The Commission expects to publish the proposed redistribution in early 2026. Objections will be open for a period of 30 days.

The objections to the proposed redistribution will be published, and comments will be invited.

This stage of consultation is expected to commence by April 2026. Comments will be open for a period of 10 days.

The commencement of each of these stages of consultation must be publicly notified through the Queensland Government Gazette and will be promoted through other channels to encourage public participation.
