Over time people move in and around Queensland, altering the balance of voters in each electorate. A state redistribution is undertaken so that each electoral district contains relatively the same number of electors. This ensures each person's vote carries equal weight at the ballot box.
In 2016, the Queensland Redistribution Commission (QRC) was established after Parliament decided to increase the number of state electorates from 89 to 93.
The QRC gazetted its final determination on Friday, 26 May 2017. To view the report, see: http://boundaries.ecq.qld.gov.au/have-your-say/the-final-determination
