It is compulsory for all eligible electors in the Banana Shire Council, Division 6 area to enrol and vote in the upcoming by-election. 

Rolls for the by-election closed at 5pm on Friday 27 January and enrolment figures (PDF, 6.5 KB) for the division 6 area are now available. 


The by-election will be held as a full postal ballot and therefore no polling booths will be available on polling day.

Ballot papers have been dispatched to the postal address of each registered voter in the division 6 area. If you do not have a postal address listed on your enrolment, ballot papers have been sent to the residential/enrolled address listed. 

Ballot papers must be completed by 6pm on polling day (Saturday 25 February 2017). 

If your ballot material has not arrived or is accidentally defaced or destroyed, you MUST apply for a replacement by completing a declaration form (PDF, 100.6 KB). Completed declaration forms must be returned to the Returning Officer.

Candidate nominations for the 2017 Banana Shire Council, Division 6 By-Election closed at 12noon, Tuesday 31 January. Candidates in ballot paper order are as follows:

Voting system

The voting system used for the Banana Shire Council, Division 6 By-Election will be optional preferential voting (OPV). Instructions for placing a formal vote under the OPV system will be provided at the top of the ballot paper; please read the instructions carefully.
