Absent Vote

If a voter goes to a polling booth where no Certified List (roll) is held for the electoral district he/she is enrolled for, the voter will be given an absent vote. The voter states his/her address, signs a declaration, and receives a ballot paper for that district and votes. The completed ballot paper is then placed in a Declaration Envelope and returned to the ‘home’ Returning Officer. The declaration is subsequently checked against the roll to determine the voter’s eligibility and, if found to be correct, the vote is included in the final count.
